So long, blogger.com....




NYUCN Advising hopes you had a great spring break!

We have big news: NYUCN Advising blog will be transitioning out of blogger.com, to a new home tumblr.com! Tumblr is a more diverse, interactive, and accessible social media site for students, and more information will be made available to all nursing students,

Medical Spanish Crash Course: Join fellow nursing students for a biref crash course in medical spanish. Monday, March 23rd, from 6pm to 8pm. At the Kimmel Center for University Life, Rm 906 (60 Washington Sq.).

The Hartford Institute Geriatric Undergraduate Scholars Program: Now accepting applicants for the summer and fall cohorts. This honors program is only open to undergraduate students who are currently in the 2nd sequence; A&E II. Applications are due April 21st for both traditional and accelerated students. Research Days



NYUCN RESEARCH DAYS

Do you know what the NYUCN Research Days are all about? These important two days in April is where all students of NYU College of Nursing, alongside NYU college of Dentristry and all its programs who have engaged in a research project can share their work. It must have been under the supervision of a faculty member. 

It is the perfect opportunity to share your work with your peers, professors, and the entire NYUCN community. This is also a great achievement to add to your overall resumes, or Linkedin accounts. 

Runs April 23rd to 24th. Students should seek approval from their adviser before registering. Advisers will recieve a confirmation email indicating that their students have registered. Submit your abstract online by clicking here. Also email a WORD attachment to research@nyu.edu. Deadline for the abstract is March 15th.

Integrated Care Models and Multidisciplinary Behavior Health for Older Adults with HIV: The introduction to using different integrated care models for the growing number of older adults with HIV. Scholarships & Fellowships

Happy Monday NYUCN Students!

This blog  post is a update on current/upcoming scholarships, fellowships, externships & employment opportunities. Please put reminders for yourselves to get ample time to complete the applications; some are intensive and require components that may be time consuming based on your already packed schedules.







-NYU Langone Summer Externship: This full time program is being offered to all nursing students, and already has a large number of applicants. You will be able to get hands on clinical work on a designated unit, while getting a competitive salary. Deadline is this week, February 27th. To apply and to get more information click here. 


-NYU Summer Opportunity for Registered Nurses: The NYU Child Study Center is hiring a full time RN for the NYU Summer Program for kids; an all day therapeutic program that provides treatment to meet education & behavioral needs of 7-11 years old children with ADHD. -National Institutes of health Undergraduate Scholarship: This is for undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral and social science related careers. Deadline is March 2nd. For more information and to apply click here.


-After College/AACN Scholarship Fund- Open to students seeking master's or doctoral degrees. Special consideration is given to graduate students with the goal of becoming a nurse educator, those completing an RN to BSN or RN to MSN program, and accelerated students. Deadline is March 30th. -Margaret E. Mahoney Fellowship: This program provides stipends for medical, public health/policy, and graduate students to conduct summer research projects on a health care delivery transformation. Deadline for submissions is March 15th. For more information and to apply click here.

Studying Abroad...


Attention NYUCN Students:

-Are you interested in studying abroad? There are some general informational sessions coming up that will discuss different opportunities offered by the Office of Global Programs.

-Most students assume that studying away is too expensive for them. Think again! There are many scholarships available from Global Programs. Information sessions are being offered to learn more about scholarship eligibility, applications, and more resources that are being offered.

Azma International Volunteering- Azma International is seeking volunteers to work in medical clinics and hospitals throughout Africa, Peru, and Guatemala. Students who are interested in health issues and clinical work are encouraged to apply. Financial Aid Presentation #1: The NYU office of Financial Aid will be hosting free presentations to all undergraduate students. February 19th, 5:30pm-6:30pm at the Silver building room 520. This is first presentation out of three to follow in the next two months. Registration not required.

Welcome Back NYUCN Students!


NYUCN  Office of Advising and Academic Services welcomes you to the Spring 2015 semester!


Classes begin next week and it is officially the beginning of a new semester. To dust off on your grammar and writing skills, please come to next weeks event, Writing in Style: For the Health Industry. Good writing styles are essential in the health field, and this  workshop will be a interactive refresher for students. Will be taught by Communications Consultant Barbara Kancelbaum, a NYUCN Alum.
