Research Days



NYUCN RESEARCH DAYS

Do you know what the NYUCN Research Days are all about? These important two days in April is where all students of NYU College of Nursing, alongside NYU college of Dentristry and all its programs who have engaged in a research project can share their work. It must have been under the supervision of a faculty member. 

It is the perfect opportunity to share your work with your peers, professors, and the entire NYUCN community. This is also a great achievement to add to your overall resumes, or Linkedin accounts. 

Runs April 23rd to 24th. Students should seek approval from their adviser before registering. Advisers will recieve a confirmation email indicating that their students have registered. Submit your abstract online by clicking here. Also email a WORD attachment to research@nyu.edu. Deadline for the abstract is March 15th. 


We draw your attention to the following reminders for this week:

Integrated Care Models and Multidisciplinary Behavior Health for Older Adults with HIV: The introduction to using different integrated care models for the growing number of older adults with HIV. Tuesday, March 3rd 8:00am-4:00pm. Held at Kimmel Center for University Life, Rosenthal Pavilion 60 Washington Sq. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided, register by clicking here. 


Ethical Decision Making: Presented by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing. Join Dean Amy Knowles in a discussion on ethical decision making in the nursing profession.Thursday, March 5th 4:00pm to 5:00pm.  RSVP by clicking here. 


NYUCN Undergraduate Town Hall: The opportunity to voice your concerns, questions, and thoughts. Whether its about academic affairs, student life, or the new NYUCN main building, we encourage you to attend this town hall meeting.  Please fill out this form with your concern and offer a recommendation to resolve the issue; click here

Free Food for NYU Students

                                                                                                                                   
A lot of students have a NYU meal plan, and use dining dollars. But are you aware of the NYU meal swipes community? It is a great opportunity for NYU students to donate leftover/extra meal swipes, and students who are hungry can ask and request a meal. Click here to visit the Facebook page. 

How does it work? Visit the online request form and click "offer a swipe" or "ask for a swipe". Click here to sign up now.  It is very full right now, so we encourage students to please donate spare swipes!


Below are a few other great tips and resources for students looking for free meals around campus:


- NYU events calendar updates daily/weekly for events on campus that will have free food. On the upper right hand side there is a "Free Food Events" tab. Use that, as well as the calendar on the left hand side to view upcoming NYU events with free food included. 

- Free Food at NYU twitter page provides information on events or spots around campus that will have free food. Check frequently.

- Eat Up NYC Facebook page that finds free food all around NY for the general public. 

- Campus Clicker sign up here to receive texts and/or emails of coupons for food, markets, etc.

Need a Refresher on Library Research Skills?

This Thursday, March 8, 2012, Susan Kaplan Jacobs, Health Sciences Librarian, will present a library research skills workshop tailored specifically for graduate students. This session is meant to appeal to individuals who are familiar with effective research strategies as well as those who are unsure where to begin.

The topics covered will include locating research evidence in article databases, translating PICO questions into search strategies, and using point of care/background sources for topic overviews. Susan Jacobs will also leave time after her presentation for questions. The Office of Academic Advising strongly encourages you to attend this informative session.
